Bida Poly Rector urges Muslims to be 'brothers - keeper' as they celebrate Eidil-fitir today

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Dr. Abubakar Abdul Dzukogi, has today advised Muslims to be their brothers' keeper as they mark this year's Eidil-fitir across the world.

The Rector, on behalf of the students and staff of the Polytechnic, also enjoined the faithful to exhibit righteousness in all of their activities beyond the season of Ramadan.

Dr. Dzukogi, who acknowledged the many sacrifices of the Muslim faithful through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mr. Abdulkadir Abdullahi Yahaya, said fasting was one of the greatest gifts of God to humanity and Muslims must therefore do everything possible to preserve its virtues beyond Ramadan period.

He said apart from being a potent tool in expiating the sins of humans overtime, the principles adapted in the just concluded Ramadan should be the daily watchword of Muslims across boards so as to sustain Allah's ubiquitous mercies, forgiveness and blessings upon their lives.

The Rector also urged Muslims to remain calm, steadfast and patient in the face of daunting challenges, especially in coping with the challenges thrown up to the nation by the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic.

The statement from the SSA further quoted the Rector as saying that "Muslim faithful across the world should always cultivate the habit of helping one another, including in rendering selfless services to people outside their faith, especially in terms of difficulties as the current Covid-19 pandemic calls for."

He added that the world must unite around a common idea which promotes unity in diversity for the greater prosperity of all nations.

The statement reads: "Let us use the lessons of the holy month to promote kindness and brotherhood among people from all walks of life. Let all well meaning people of this nation be resolute today in supporting President Muhammadu Buhari's efforts at stamping out corruption and other vices in our country. Let us, in the spirit of this season, pray to the almighty Allah to ease the difficulties associated with the global pandemic, COVID-19, so that the world's economic and other valuable activities can return to normalcy in no time. In the light of all this, permit me to also call on people of goodwill to come to work together with a view to supporting the Federal and State Governments' efforts at stamping out the pandemic from all facets of our nation."
